First off I'd like to thank my wonderful sister for designing my blog for me! I have no blog design skills--but who needs them with a sister like Hels! I LOVE YOU!
I've decided to embrace the cowboy culture that runs through here--I've even started listening to country music just to get in the spirit of things! I did a story earlier this week at the Cattlemen's Classic. All these ranchers were there to show off and sell their dogs and horses and cattle. I never knew how cool cow wrangling was before that day! I was about to walk behind one cow before he was put up on auction and I got a little nervous that he would kick me--I mean, in close quarters my instincts tend to tell me not to walk behind the 1,000 lb animal whose rear is level with my nose. "He don't kick," said the rancher, "as long as you don't grab his privates." "I'll try to resist," I said. Love it here!
For those of you who haven't heard, there was the unfortunate incident in Kearney last week. A man held about 40 people as hostages at a Wells Fargo Bank branch. No one was hurt, but the FBI came and there were snipers and K-9 units and it was all very intense...and I got to cover it! I would never, in a million years, have thought I'd be covering a story like this a month out of the University! Way intense! But before you think I'm an awful person for being excited about my opportunity to go live in a hostage situation, remember--no one was hurt! The 22-year-old gunman is facing 350 years in prison though...
Standoff in Kearney
Until next time!

ps - do you get a trophy from the gracies? you should. if you don't I will make you one! :)
Yes, I loved how you turned Provo into "big city." you know I love my P-town. I mean, P-big city.
And ah, YW. Think up some fun 'attention-getter' game/activity to start with? Give them all a piece of paper and pen to write the answer to some question even if it's like, what was your favorite thing this week?
No.. what do I know? I was in YW for like a month! Maybe just go back to the golden rule: put the treats on the table and bribe them to be good and they can have treats on their way out!
And, yes, you are the coolest YW teacher ever. But, yes, if you were snotty back then, then you might need some kind of Karma...
And,
I LOVE YOU!
