Have you ever seen a sun dog? We had one here last week. People kept calling the station wondering what was going on. They're seen when the sun is low in the sky and the rays reflect off ice crystals in the air. In short--very beautiful.
Just a short story before I go:
We were at our morning meeting at the station when the loud speaker comes on.
"Ice is falling from the tower," I hear.
"We'll resume in a second," the news director says. Everyone puts on their coats and starts leaving. I ask what's going on and apparently when the ice on the tower gets too thick it falls off. It's been known to knock out car windshields in the parking lot so everyone was heading out to move their cars.
