Silly Reporter Mishaps...

As a reporter it's my job to know everything about the subject I'm covering. Sometimes my efforts fall a little short and I do silly things that show I have no idea what I'm doing. Take for example these three incidents:

Mishap #1. Priestly Prying
 Scene: In York after the unexpected death of a Catholic Priest. I'm interviewing the assistant priest.
Amy: Did Father Tasler have any family?
Priest: His parents are from Omaha...he grew up around there.
Amy: But did he have a wife? Any children?
Priest: (Confused look) Bad question, we don't marry.
*Yea, forgot about that...

Mishap #2. Going Green
Scene: Water testing near a farmers field during Earth Week. We're shooting video as his tractor makes the rounds. I'm about to jump into the tractor with my camera and have to spit out my gum that's getting a little dusty. I toss it to the ground.
*Did I just throw my gum into a farmers field while doing an Earth Week story? Yes, yes I did.

Mishap #3. Buzz Kill
Scene: There's a new city bee hive ordinance so I'm excited about taking cool bee footage. I show up in a skirt (hey, it was Sunday) and the bee keeper isn't sure if I'm serious or not. He lends me a bee keeping outfit but I'm wearing heels so I still look a little silly and my feet are exposed--but I'm getting great video as the bees swarm around me. No Sudden Movements!
Amy: (calmly) I think I just got stung on my ankle.
Beekeeper: You just got stung?
Amy: Yea, on my ankle.
Beekeeper: Does it hurt?
Amy: (very calmly) yes.
Beekeeper: I don't understand...are you wearing perfume?
Amy: Um...yea...
*Ok, so I didn't think not to wear perfume and a skirt while covering beekeeping--so what! At least I have an excellent tolerance for pain.
