My New Roommate...

now back to you - amyluck at 9:04 PM
I have a new roommate. He hasn't had a home for a while so I took him in. He is big and black and I love him to death! If you haven't figured it out: I have a cat! He is de-lovely! And seriously so big he feels like a small child in my arms. No pictures yet--but they will come. I always thought if I got one pet I'd get two (so they would never get lonely and have someone to play with). When my landlord told me he works on the board at The Pet Connection and could help me get a cat I thought, "there's just no way I can handle two cats!" But, what's special about my cat is that he hates other cats! It's perfect--he wouldn't want a friend anyway!

I've only had him for a little more than a day now, but he already recognizes my voice and comes running over for snuggles when I come home. Then when I try to walk anywhere he somehow walks just close enough in front of me that I trip over him. He also knows how to open all my bottom cupboards in the kitchen and somehow the dresser drawers in my bedroom--I love you, but stay out of my undies cat! And what's the deal with Catnip? I tried to give him some and he just rolls his head in it. Someone told me that cats do that, but my aunt's cats always ate it.

However...it is surprisingly nice to have someone to come home to. I already love him.

He still doesn't have a name. Suggestions?

In other events: I had sweeps this week. I think I got a cumulative of 6 hours sleep over three nights (I got a little crazy near the end, but I think the news 5 crowd is starting to understand my craziness--and my drama...). I feel like I just got done with finals--but instead of having finals two times a year I get them three times! Now that I know how sweeps work and the effort that goes into it I will definitely be more prepared for the next sweeps (which are in May).

Here are the links in case you're curious:

Part 2
Part 3

Anyway, between the two hour night/nap/slight-brain-pressure-alleviation and running around town and country for stories, I began to notice how everything falls apart. It starts with a car lock that might be a little sticky and before you know it, it doesn't work at all unless you pull with both hands. Then your purse zipper snags a little, and your sunglasses break and your tripod has to be extended a certain way so a leg doesn't get stuck and take five minutes to un-stick... before you know it you're going off no sleep and to get from the car to the house you have to take off your glove to unlock the back door to get the camera out that you have to hold with both hands because the camera bag strap is broken and then you have to put everything down to jiggle your keys in the apartment door and walk over the bathroom fan that has to be installed but you haven't had time to do because--oh yea--it's sweeps week! Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? How much time and energy do we waste working around things that are broken? Seriously, I thought I was going crazy.

Until next time,
AW
