Huskers and Kool-Aid

now back to you - amyluck at 7:10 PM
HELLO NEBRASKA!!!

I've had this blog for almost two years now and the new move in my life might be just enough to motivate me to use it...

A few hours ago I arrived in the corn husker state, the state "where the good life is" (as the welcome sign told me on my way across the state border). The snow covered rolling hills welcomed me as if I were entering the setting of my very own storybook. Each dip and rise promised some unknown adventure on the other side daring me to climb to a new view. Good thing I'm a fearless reporter who faces the unknown with a strong jaw! Greets challenges with courage! And confronts the cold in her fur fluffy JCrew boots (seriously maybe the best purchase of my life).

You probably don't know this, but Hastings, NE (where I am) is where Kool-Aid was invented by Edwin Perkins and his wife Kitty. Legend has it that Edwin experimented in his mother's kitchen until he had the perfect pink powder. And guess what. I live with the Kool-Aid man. That's right! he's down in the basement as we speak! This year he was with Santa as they lit the town Christmas tree together and I'm told he makes appearances around town throughout the year--though the official Kool-Aid days run the second week in August. In a strange way I almost feel safer knowing he's down there...is that weird to anyone?

So much more has happened in my Nebraska beginnings: An adventure that led me to my spacious room complete with a large TV and Dish On Demand where I am currently watching Hocus Pocus before catching the news (from the station I'll be working at) and going to bed.

Goodnight Nebraska.

This is beautifully written. So glad I can finally see Amy's writings on her blog!

(Oh, and the little redecorating is nice too. The former black and white wall paper was very Amy... just made it a tad hard to read...)

I love and miss you!
